While thumbing through the fixed tickets in the new version of WordPress, version 2.7.1, I came across a ticket regarding Word 2007 and WordPress.
Was I the only one that didn’t know that Word 2007 could post to WordPress?
I had to try it out, and this post is the result.
Not that I plan on using Word 2007 to write my posts, but it would be a great option if I ever had to go back to a dial-up and had minimal bandwidth. Not that I plan on that happening, but just in case.

Damn You, Joss Whedon
Just tried publishing a word 2007 doc to wordpress, for a client’s new blog. no luck! “word cannot register your account.”
Assumed it’s because I host from my hard drive, not wordpress.com.
how did you do it?
My blog isn’t hosted on wordpress.com, either, so I think the error you’re getting may be related to getting Word to find the xmlrpc.php file.
When you say you host from your hard drive, are you talking about your local hard drive or your server hard drive?
okay. got it. for wordpress 2.7.1. entry.
open word doc. click publish to blog.
click “register later” on pop-up window.
copy & past in post box.
there will be about 20 lines of text above your post copy. delete the code.
that leaves you with the blog post you wanted. click publish.
not a perfect fix. but faster than retyping or messing around with MS.
Fortunately, I was able to register my blog in Word at startup, so publishing was not a problem.
If you are still having problems – being unable to register the blog in Word or publishing – I’ll do my best to help. Like I said, though, I wasn’t even aware until recently that Word 2007 could publish to a WordPress blog!
