There have been a million times I have had plenty of time  to work on a plugin, like Tango Smileys Extended, but I wasn’t able to because I didn’t have access to a computer. As great as a Pocket PC is, I was never able to type out a chunk of code before I forgot what I was even trying to do!  It has become especially difficult now that I’ve switched to the Samsung Omnia, since the Omnia does not have a keyboard like my old Apache, and typing by tapping a screen is pretty slow going since you’re never sure you actually hit the right letter until you see it come up wrong on the screen. It sucks, and it’s time to do something about it.

However… I need your help.

I don’t make a lot of money but I do have plenty of bills. It makes it very difficult to save for something like a netbook. The only way I’m going to be able to afford to get a netbook (without saving for months) is to beg for donations.

Please, if you use any of my plugins or find any information I provide on this site helpful in any way, consider donating to my cause. Every little helps, and it would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone is interested in which netbook I’m trying to get, it’s an Acer Aspire AS1410-???? found on newegg. I’m not sure which AS1410 I’m going to get, because the price keeps changing so I may get a different color just because it’s cheaper. It’s nothing fancy – it’s just what I need to continue active development of my plugins and other projects.

I see a lot of people blogging resolutions for the new year or recapping 2008, but I’d like to not start the year by lying to myself or bringing up the crap memories of this past year. Instead, I choose to look at the things that are making the transition to the new year with me.

I’ve spent more time and put more effort into Tango Smileys Extended than any other project I have undertaken. It has also proven to be something that I am pleased to work on, and has made me happy by being so much more than just something to do. I’ve had moments where I have considered calling it quits and releasing a final version, but those moments very quickly disappeared and were replaced by the satisfaction of taking another step forward. As each version is released, there is yet more to do, and I look forward to crossing off another item on the to-do list with the next release. The releases continue.

This blog has been an excellent output for me, and has given me a platform to do the things that I have discovered that make me happy. Without this blog, I would not have undertaken the TSE project, and I certainly would not have learned so much about PHP and SQL. I learn best by doing, and everything I have done thus far has taught me a lot. Perhaps this is the one thing I am meant to be great at doing, while everything else floats in the ether of mediocrity. I would be okay with that.

What I hope to bring to this new year is a continuous improvement of TSE, a new theme for this blog – which I’ve been rapidly producing, and a renewed feeling of accomplishment with every new post. I’m sure I will have a great year if I stay on track, which looks more and more likely every day.

I’m drunk…

To top it off, it was only 68°F last night, then it rained, then it got warmer, and now it’s 73°F and very, very humid. I don’t think anyone should be sticky on Christmas morning.

Unless, of course, your Christmas present is a very hot woman wearing nothing but a red ribbon. But, then again, a shower would get rid of that kind of sticky.

Maybe.
