Most of the errors came from the MCE editor’s attempt at “fixing” open paragraphs which were never open. I had several hundred errors involving closed P tags. I guess the MCE editor thinks that everything should be enclosed in a P tag, even if it is not a paragraph.

My biggest frustration with these closed P tags came when I tried to fix my list headers. The MCE editor doesn’t understand that anything contained within “<lh></lh>” is not a paragraph, so it wouldn’t stop adding the “</p>” after the closed LH. I even tried to add LH as a valid element for TinyMCE, but it didn’t help. Ultimately, the editor won, and I had to remove all of my LH tags and use the stupid P tag just before the list. It doesn’t look the same, and I really wish I could keep TinyMCE from screwing with valid tags.

In the end, I ended up with valid XHTML on all but two pages, both of which had 50+ errors involving closed P tags which were never opened. I think I’ll fix those another day.

Vince from ShamWow

Well, he’s back. Vince, from the ShamWow commercials, is now pitching the Slap Chop.

Unfortunately for everyone, this commercial is even more annoying than the ShamWow commercial.

I don’t even know where to begin to bitch about this commercial. You’ll have to see it for yourself to understand how truly bad it is. I’m going to break my rule for this post, because I’d hate to waste my bandwidth on posting this commercial, so here’s the commercial embedded from YouTube.

Not only are you going to love his nuts, the Graty (horrible spelling for a horrible item) cheese grater is great for making freduccini. Whatever the fuck that is. Am I mistaken, or is the “tuna” he uses actually cat food?

On a side note, I found a parody ShamWow commercial when I was looking for the Slap Chop commercial, so here it is. It’s awesome.

I came across an image on another site, which was a screen cap of a question asked in the Decorating & Remodeling section of Yahoo! Answers, and I laughed so hard that I decided to see the question for myself.

A quick Google search led me right to the question.

The question asked was “What is a meat curtain?“

I can almost understand not knowing what a meat curtain is, or what it means when the carpet (or rug) and the drapes don’t match, but why would your first step be to ask people on Yahoo! Answers? Do the right thing and Google it first, just like everyone else on earth.

Vince from ShamWow

I cannot be the only one that wants to shoot that ShamWow guy, Vince, in the face.

I’m so sick of seeing and hearing the commercials on TV, and I really wish someone would find this guy at a ShamWow demonstration tent and hit him in the face. With a hammer.

If it weren’t for Vince, I think I might consider buying a ShamWow, but this annoying ass-goblin sells it like he’s trying to sell his own mother. My favorite line is when he says “It’s made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff.” Like Adolf Hitler and Nazis. Idiot.

I think I would be more open to buying a ShamWow if the commercial actually went something like this:

Yes, it is a fucking ShamWow!

It was dropped a while back, and the LCD backlight was cracked, but the main LCD display worked fine as long as I kept the backlight off. I was okay with this. Things like this happen, and eventually I would order a new screen and replace it.

Then the battery started to go. This also happens, so I was okay with it, too. I just kept a dock at work and used the PC cable to keep it charged at home. Eventually, when I had the money and it really started to bother me that the iPod only had enough juice for 2 hours of playback, I would order a new battery and replace it.

Then, two days ago I added a new album and finally had time to listen to it while I was at work. Midway through track three, the drive started to click repeatedly, and would not play anything. My iPod was frozen. So, like I usually do when this happens, I reset the iPod and waited for it to boot back up. It never did. I got the sad iPod icon. I ran the restore thing from iTunes and reset the iPod again. I got the sad iPod icon again. Then I checked the causes of the error, and found out that it is either the logic board or the drive that needs to be replaced, or even both. Esentially, I would have to replace one or both components that make the iPod what it is. So, I priced it out.

$180 to replace both, or I take the chance that it’s only one part and just order that one part.

I read some more on the issues with iPods and part replacement, and I found out that it’s an 85% chance that it is the drive alone that is causing the problem. Pretty much what it boils down to is that I have to spend $100 on a new 30GB drive, for starters, and the new LCD screen and battery will set me back another $65.

Hopefully, with the replacement of the drive, my iPod will be revived. Now it’s just a matter of coming up with the $165 to buy the parts, and then saying a little prayer that I don’t have to pony up the extra $80 for the logic board.

With my luck, though, it’s going to be a combination of the headphone jack and logic board that needed to be replaced, and I will have built an entirely new 30GB iPod (minus the casing) for $275. Come to think of it, maybe I’ll just buy a new 120GB iPod for $249. Or maybe I’ll save a little more and buy the 32GB iPod Touch for $399. Decisions, decisions…

I have 4816 songs in my iPod, and when I select shuffle, I end up hearing all of the songs I forgot were on there because I don’t listen to them anyway. Back to back.

It pisses me off!

So… I updated to WordPress 2.7 when it came out and it left my site in maintenance mode!!!

Unfortunately, since I’m always logged in, I was always able to see that the site was up. Even though it wasn’t up for the public.

Apologies to everyone who was unable to access whatever you were looking for here. I’ll try to make sure to check that the site is open to the public if another update comes out.

It doesn’t sound like much, but I didn’t even expect the 25 that I’m getting now. I would still like to know what the hell happened when I installed 2.7 to cause the drop in visitation!

It looks like Boost Mobile is continuing its trend of shit commercials that annoy the hell out of me. This time, they’ve chosen to change it up and offer a duo of commercials starring Georgie, a play on George Washington and the dollar bill. Now, instead of Boost Mobile being the hip choice, Boost Mobile is selling itself as the cheap choice in cellular service.

The only positive thing I can say about the new ad campaign is that they seem to have dropped the Where You At? slogan. At least for now.

Everything else I can say is negative. I watched a behind-the-scenes video on the Georgie ad campaign and I was not impressed. You can’t have George Washington spew slang to push the great value of a dollar in the new pricing plans and expect to sell me on it. To start, Georgie sounds mentally challenged. He’s trying to rap, but he sounds like a douche trying to make himself seem more important than he actually is. To top it off, these commercials play as often as any other Boost Mobile commercial has ever played, so it repeatedly violates my eardrums. I have to wonder how much money Boost Mobile is pushing into these ad campaigns and what the return rate is.

Here’s an analogy for you: Georgie is to George Washington as Kanye West is to Elvis Presley.

If I only had $30 each month to spend on a cell phone and Boost Mobile was the only provider with a plan I could afford, I would only have a cell phone every other month because I would use two months of cell phone savings to pay for a single month of another provider.

I just realized something. Boost Mobile is abbreviated BM. So is bowel movement. That’s pure summary right there.
