Below is my compiled list of TODO items for Tango Smileys Extended. If you have a suggestion, please leave a comment on this page and I will consider adding it.
- Graphical Smiley Interface- Writing Posts: Available in v2.1.0
- Graphical Smiley Interface- Writing Comments:
Available in v2.1.0 - Reorganize Smileys: Sorted since v2.5
- Additional Smileys: Available smileys increased to 202 in v2.5
- New CTI Interface for Comments: Add a button that calls a popup style container with clickable smileys, just like the one available for editing Posts & Pages.
- Multifunctional CTI Interface: Available in v2.5.1.2
- Optimize Code: Some of the code that is used is redundant or less efficient than it should be. I wrote many parts of TSE using roundabout methods to make debugging easier. Now that the debugging is generally done, I can switch to more direct methods. Code has been optimized as of v2.6.0.1, but could stand to be more efficient. Then again, what code couldn’t stand to be more efficient?
- Larger Smileys: Available since 2.6.2.0
The following items were previously on my TODO list, but have been removed:
- Interchangeable Smiley Sets: The plugin is called Tango Smileys Extended, so being able to change the smileys would defeat the whole original purpose of this plugin. If you’re looking for a plugin that will let you use custom smileys, I suggest you look elsewhere unless you want to modify TSE yourself to support other smiley sets.
- Maintain Backwards Compatibility: WordPress is evolving, and TSE should evolve with it. Unfortunately, this means that newer versions of TSE will not be compatible with earlier versions of WordPress, and that’s ok! If you are hosting your own blog, you should be keeping up with WordPress updates anyway. If you’re not updating WordPress, then why would you, or should you, update your plugins? Using an older version of WordPress? That’s fine. Use an older version of TSE, too, but you’re going to miss out on the new features.
